I’m going to purchase one of these two new Canyon Grail Gen 2 models:

CF SLX 8 Di2 (https://www.canyon.com/en-us/gravel-bikes/performance/grail-generation-2/cf-slx/grail-cf-slx-8-di2/3579.html?dwvar_3579_pv_rahmenfarbe=R120_P02)

Or

CF SLX 8 Force AXS (https://www.canyon.com/en-us/gravel-bikes/performance/grail-generation-2/cf-slx/grail-cf-slx-8-axs/3580.html?dwvar_3580_pv_rahmenfarbe=R120_P02)

In researching them the biggest differences I noticed were the Shimano Di2 Ultregra 2 by 11 vs. the SRAM Force AXS 1 by 12 gearing, and the DT Swiss GRC1400 wheels on the Di2 vs the Zipp 303 Firecrest on the AXS.

Besides these differences, what else is worth noting or pointing out? I’m not concerned with the weight difference or the tires at all.

I’ll be doing 50/50 road and gravel, so what would be better suited for flat road riding in addition to gravel?

Which is a better overall value proposition?

  1. Depends if you want 2 by or 1 by, but I’d go Force AXS. The Zipp 303 Firecrest wheelset alone is like $2k so it’s a super good value.
