Purchasing this rack from one up and wondering if I need anything additional? I keep seeing they sell additional stuff for racks but wondering if there is anything that is a must buy or if I’m good with just purchasing the rack itself?

As long as you have a 2” or 1 1/4” hitch on your car you should be good to go. If you have a 2” hitch, might want to get that version as folks say it’s stiffer. The 1 1/4 includes an adapter to 2”.
Is there any reason to choose this rack over the heavy duty? The only difference I see is the equip’d has an option for 1.25″ receiver. Otherwise the heavy duty seems to be superior in every way, including price.
I bought a lock for the hitch and two locks for the bikes. If you buy them together they’ll all use the same key. If you regularly carry two bikes the addon that adds the lever for the folding mechanism at the end of the rack instead of down by the hitch would be a good idea as well.
Wheel locks sold by 1up are very convenient. Fine to pop into the gas station to pee or pick up take out. Wouldn’t leave the bike with just them if you can’t see the bike but that’s true regardless of lock. If you order it at the same time as the rack they will key everything the same. Their chain is a little over priced but might be worth it to you. I’d also consider getting a u lock to lock the hitch to the receiver or their receiver lock cover if you live in an urban area. These racks get stolen all the time in places like the Bay Area or Seattle. Not an issue where I live or ride but I do carry a u lock in the car for road trips
I suggest their Bolt Guard accessory along with at least the Wheel Lock.

HD to handle my 54lb eMTB.
Buy all the locks with your rack purchase. They will assign them all the same key.
If you buy any locks separately, they’ll use a different key which can be annoying.
all you *need* is a compatible hitch (duh) but if you ever think you’ll leave your bike on the rack unattended, i’d recommend something to a) lock the bike to the rack, and b) lock the rack to the car
