I recently bought a Dutch / cruiser bike, just want to bike for fun, not professionally, but I do want to bike to work, which takes about 1hr or so. The question I have is that can I put my bike in the trunk like that, and then drive to bike trail? It usually takes 30-40min to the trail. Is it safe to do so? Or should I just bike to the trail? I don’t really want to install a hitch on my car, but should I? Thank you!!

Take the front wheel off, then you can probably close the trunk
You want to go on a trail with that?
I mean, it should be fine in the trunk but still.
I would swap that out for a Brompton.
Transporting your bike this way will damage both your car and your bike. I can confidently say most of the damage to my bikes has come during transportation.
Thats more of a traffic safety question than a bike question.
If you planning to commute to work I would suggest that you cycle to the trail atleast sometimes and I also wonder what kind of trail it is
Get a Saris Bones trunk rack and it will make your life easy!
Try removing the front wheel and the right pedal and you might be able to fit it in the back seat
Drive there or ride there it’s up to you but at least take a wheel off and get the whole thing in the car so you can close the trunk. If you don’t want that hassle just grab a trunk mounted carrier.
I have a gravel bike that fits in A5 trunk without removing a wheel and I can fit two bikes if I remove front wheels. You should be able to either fold your bike in a way that trunk closes, or remove a wheel and then it will def fit.
Driving like this will cause damage
The nicest bike racks are either the ones that attach to a roof rail system or the trailer hitch. Cheaper are the ones that strap to the trunk.
Before I bought my trailer hitch rack, I found a trunk mount one used on Craigslist for like $20. Used that one for a really long time before I decided it was worth my while to upgrade.
I’m glad you clarified you’re not a professional cyclist.
