I am building a new bike up and didn’t realise how complicated it is. I have finally worked out what I need to fit this rear shock, but I don’t know whether I need a tool to fit this either bushing or mounting hardware? Some say you need a DU tool but I’m not sure.

You don’t need a tool to fit this. But you will for the DU bushing. That’s the hard part. Make sure this has the right length, width, thickness etc.
You need to install mounting hardware, with dimensions specific to your frame, so check your frame specs.
More about mounting hardware here: https://thelostco.com/blogs/blog/mtb-rear-shock-mounting-hardware-explained
There’s also a guide in the article on how to install it. There’s also dedicated mounting hardware install kits you can get at bike shops, all you need besides that is a bench vise. I’d recommend maybe going with dedicated tools if you’re new to this.
Be careful, some frames have different sizes mounting hardware for each shock eyelet.
You can install all of these and remove all of these with a socket set and a harbor freight bench vise. I’ve done it numerous times
