Was lucky enough to be gifted this bike way before I fully appreciated it. It's gone through a few wear item replacements, and the combination of new parts and more miles has really helped me appreciate it. Couple notes:
1) Almost every ride someone tells me, "Back in 19__ I bought a Masi ___ and rode it ___." Love hearing about people's (mostly older guys) memories and connections.
2) 25mm in the back and 28mm in the front. I do yearn for 32s or even 35s when I need to transit a packed dirt path, but I'm more and more getting used to and enjoying 100psi life. I'd love the option to ride more dirt paths without going all the way up to my mtb, but for now loving the roads.
3) Ended up getting a new rear wheel a few rides ago. The bearings on the old one were probably a few thousand miles past needing replacing. I looked at cool carbon aero wheels, because everyone's restomod bikes look so cool. Budget and common sense (I beat the shit out of my bike) won out and i ended up going with the bang-for-your buck dtswissr460 option my lbs had pre built and in stock. Game. Changer. I'm still running tubes and gatorskins – might treat myself to tubeless in the next year, we'll see.
4) Had a persistent squeak in the drivetrain that came down to needing a new bottom bracket. Replaced the front crank too that probably had 5k miles on it. It just has a tiagra on it now, but that completely changed how shifting felt.
5) Can't say enough good things about Outer Shell bike bags.
6) Love going back and forth between group rides and solo rides. It's still such a surprise to carry 25mph on a long straight in a group when solo I'm dying at 23mph.
