Just tuned up my rockhopper “xbike“ I built last year. I regreased rear hub and I think I must have messed up the placement of the cones and nuts and made the wheel a bit cockeyed in the frame. May be hard to see but the tire is almost rubbing on the left dropout arm. Is the issue my cone and nut placement And distance on the axel? Or is it something else I can do to center it more? Thanks!

That looks cockeyed/crooked rather than a hub/axle issue. Make sure you’re fully set in the dropouts on each side. If you’ve got calipers, measure the distance of each side of the axle to be sure you’ve got it equal. Looks like it’s just set in there crooked though which would not be an issue with cup/cone placement.

if it’s a Q/R hub, you might have the skewer springs on backwards/inverted.

    Narrow side towards the hub.

If a spring is on backwards, the 1mm unevenness causes the wheel to sit cockeyed by a noticeable margin.

if you installed the hub axles wrong, we wont be able to tell from your pic.
