Hi everyone,

I’m hoping for some support or advice on a new trainer setup that is driving me crazy.

The Equipment:

• Bike: Trek Emonda SL6 (SRAM Rival AXS 12-speed)

• Trainer: Wahoo Kickr v5

• Freehub: Wahoo XDR Freehub body (new install)

• Cassette: Brand new SRAM Rival XG-1250 (10-36t) – same size as my outdoor wheel.

The Issue:

My bike shifts perfectly and runs silently on the road. However, as soon as I mount it to the Kickr, the alignment feels completely off.

• There is a constant, loud rumbling/rubbing noise when pedaling forward (it sounds mechanical/metal-on-metal).

• It struggles to shift cleanly through the gears.

• When backpedaling, it is almost completely silent, so the trainer internals seem fine.

What I have already checked/tried:

• Micro-Adjust: I spent ages in the SRAM AXS app trying to trim the gears. While some settings change the pitch, the grinding never goes away.

• Chain: My chain shows zero wear (measured exactly 12”). Routing through the derailleur cage is correct (under the tab).

• Lubrication: Chain is freshly lubed.

Has anyone experienced this specific issue with Rival AXS and the Kickr v5? It feels like a physical spacing issue rather than just a derailleur trim problem.

I have attached a video of the noise. If it would be helpful for me to share any additional photos or videos please let me know!

Is the chain sitting properly on the hockey wheel of the derailleur? Mine used to make a similar sound and it was that

  2. off topic: why dont i hear your derailleur make those zipp zipp sounds when shifting?

as for the rumble id make sure the cassette is torqued onto the kickr good enough and the thru axle too. my guess would be the cassette doesnt sight snuck and tight on the hub.
