Got this Peugeot for free!
A neighbor was moving out and giving away some things so my girlfriend bought this home for me.
Needs a good service and clean but it runs well
Very excited to give it some love
Any advice welcome for me as I’m a novice

Very nice, I found a similar frame in good conditions a few years ago, I’ll restore it someday ^_^
Be patient taking it apart, rusty bikes require lots of penetrating fluid. I use a rubber hammer on the end of wrenches to break stuck fasteners. The stem and seatpost are where I would start, you will find out quick on two of the likely stumbling blocks. You can get kits on eBay to replace the cables. You will need special tools for things like cranks, freewheel and hubs. The rest are common tools. Good luck.
Sweet ride. The other commenter nailed it but just to add a few things.
That rust on the head tube should be cleaned up and painted over with at least some nail polish. These old Peugeots are great bikes but I believe before a certain year they use French threading for the bottom bracket and headset. If you need to replace those parts, figure out what you’re running first. If it is French I believe Velo Orange makes modern replacements.
Your local bike shop can help you with bits that require special tooling (bottom bracket, fork freewheel maybe). and it’ll probably cost less than buying the tools yourself.
Have fun with it, it looks like a nice bike
