Hello!

Long time listener, first time caller. I've been using the carbon Brooks C13 Carved and the alloy C15 Carved for many many many miles. My butt is always pleased even during the seated pedalfest that is Unbound XL (never again). Because of this I am hesitant to even consider a different saddle, however, the squeak from the saddle onto the seat post finally has me at my wits end. Putting tape on the areas where the saddle and post make contact shuts it up but I really hate that as a solution. I'm wondering if anyone has gone from a carved saddle to a non carved and had this issue go away. I have to imagine the saddle flexes less as it's not split, but I have to imagine it still moves quite a lot while pedaling. If not, can anyone recommend a saddle that is similar in shape? I really like the round profile of the Brooks saddle and I think that's what gets along with my butt so well. Every other saddle I've tried (not many) I hate almost immediately.

HALP!

I have the c15 and never had a problem with squeaking. Is that an S7 with a mica rat tail rear rack?

No noise on my C17 saddles (carved and non carved Organic), but I have them too short time. Also, I have greased the rails, when installing both saddles, since I found out, that the rails get otherwise scratched. Maybe that helps, too.

Before I got Brooks, I was looking at Selle San Marco Regal, it looks quite similar (but idk how close/different) it is in real life.

  3. I think they’re the best saddles out there – consider replacing like-for-like or servicing/replacing the seatpost? I’ve never experienced the squeak you’ve described.

I used to be loyal to Brooks. I went through two or three Brooks c15 saddles and decided they are just not great at off-road riding. Bent a couple rails and at least one of them squeaked like crazy. I was always lubing it up….

I switched over to the WTB Silverado on my mtbs for the most part, but also like the Ergon seats. I also have a specialized power saddle on my gravel bike now, and although I kinda hate the way it looks, i have have found that the short nose and large cut out is great for drop bar riding. Now I just use the C15 on my commuter.

I’d also suggest that if you can handle rides like the Unbound XL, you might be surprised at how resilient your ass is at this point! Experiment a little!
