u/Pretentious_Designer asked for details and figured I could make a post in case someone else finds this useful.

The problem I ran into with the bikejoring market is that all major names in the business that produce antennae are for threadless forks. I searched DIY solutions, but they were all ugly pvc tubing or pool noodles, and this bike and my pooch deserve better ☺️

I already had this saddle-mount leash that I'd been using to train my dog on riding, so I gave this a shot.

The component swivels, which is desirable so that the dog movement doesn't affect your steering. This is important to pay attention to because not all models like this are made with a swivel. (The little dial at the lower front clamp is made to lock the swivel stationary)

To keep it centered, I used a lovely matching bungee cord that happened to be perfect length.

Since it's made for seatposts significantly larger than 22.2 mm, I used a Wald handlebar shim.

The end is already spring loaded, but I did opt to also use an anti-pull leash that has a section of bungee to it as well. It's one made to wrap around your waist, so I just cinched the waist part all the way down and it made a nice long 9-foot leash for us.

The whole pole section is quick-release, so I can just leave the stem clamp on when not riding with Winnie.

Hope that answers everything and maybe helps someone in a similar predicament!

Big upvote. Got that same stem, which is in and of itself an utterly niche and wonderful thing.

Swiveling, self centering, and quick release all with simple components, great design!

  3. This is cool, but please consider a different solution for the bungee cord, that will hit you right in the face if it comes loose!
