The threads in the threaded hole are stripped, so the bolt will not torque down. Is there a proper repair solution, or do I have to run the bike without the crank dust cap / crank cover?”
I’d take to a shop that works with this brand of frame.
Better to be safe than sorry in most cases like this.

You can try using a helicoil

Is the threaded hole in the frame or in the plastic cable guide?

Can’t retap the threads if they’re stripped. You have to go with threaded insert. Do you really need a screw to hold it in place? The cables apply enough tension to hold it In place.

Torque might give the wrong impression: gently finger tight is what’s needed.

Pop rivet was our quick and easy method in the bike shop. Some bikes even come like that from the factory.
