Anyone remember these time trialing pedals. I had a pair in the early 80s. They were stocked by Ron Kitchen in Harrogate, England. They came out a few years before "Look" pedals took the cycling world by storm. They were popular in the British Time Trialing scene. They were extremely light but lethal. They had no quick release. You fitted a special cleat to your shoe and after inserting your foot in the pedal you pushed in the black lever ( on the left of pic ) manually with your hand. To release your foot you had to bend over and pull out the lever. Problem was, stopping in a hurry wasn't an option.

Surely stopping wasn’t a problem. However, stopping safely may have been.
I would think these would be more suited for the track rather than time-trialing.
I am from that era, but don’t remember ever seeing these. Were they perhaps an European innovation that never made it to the States?
The “71” in M-71 is the year they were first released. Cinelli M-71 predates look by 13 years.
