  1. Other than up or down, you can also manipulate the front derailleur to tilt here and there.

Just fiddle with it some more until you give up and then send to bike shop

  2. It looks like the FD is not aligned parallel to the chains. Maybe it’s the pic.

Are you saying it was working fine before but after your repairs it wasn’t?

If this was the as-designed FD for your bike you may have inadvertently moved the FD. That’s my hunch.

If you really want to modify the FD position.

There are after market shims that change the offset of your braze on mount. I have not tried these before. Or you can removed the braze ons and switch to a clamp FD mount.

  3. This is going to sound completely silly, but it’s hard to tell from the pics… but it looks like the cable isn’t installed right now? When installed at the previous cable length, what happens?

  4. With the cable disconnected the derailleur will go all the way inward which is also downward. It may be that there is no problem at all, or at least none before you started tinkering.

  5. Your front derailleur is damaged. Looks like it’s gotten bent so cage goes down in the back. I’d take it off and compare it to another fd.

  6. > front derailleur as it was working perfectly fine before but I was unable to adjust it.

Can you elaborate? How can it be “working perfectly,” yet you’re “unable to adjust it.”

“Working perfectly” means that you were previously able to shift through all three chainrings. Were you previously able to do that?

If you weren’t able to shift before, from the pics it looks like you either have the wrong design derailleur installed or it is bent/broken.
