Join us for a day exploring the beautiful historic city of Strasbourg in Alsace, France.
This is an ideal city to explore by bike, with lots to see, family friendly cycle routes and no hills.
We visited at Easter and took in Good Friday Mass in the impressive Cathedral. There’s lots more to see with the exquisite and beautifully restored Old Town, lots of impressive architecture from more recent times, and the best of French and German cuisine and pastry combined.
I recorded some of the liturgy in the cathedral and built my music around one particular haunting melody. The music seemed to describe Strasbourg’s conflicted past, and it’s modern role as a bridge between cultures.

Mixed emotions. I loved the giant Wisteria, and Merlin's sly smile. The story of the Black Hand Gang is tragic, indeed. Sadly, it's just one of millions of examples of humankind's brutality toward its own. My stepsister tends to zero in on one example or another in order to vilify one party or another. But you and I both know – and hopefully we all understand – that human history is littered with such behavior. We know it's madness, and yet we seem unable to stop ourselves. ——– Thank you again for these virtual trips to places I'll never see, and sharing your family's journeys. xx
