2023 Stumpjumper S4 — Frame-Up Dream Build

This frame started life as a Stumpjumper LTD Mullet. I picked up the frame on Pinkbike, and the seller included the 29er link, which made it the perfect foundation for what I had in mind. It also came with a professionally installed RideWrap, which was a nice bonus.

The goal was simple: build the ultimate Midwest quiver-killer. I’m not an XC racer outside of a few casual events;  about 90% of my riding is on relatively tame XC trails. That said, I still love jumps, make multiple trips each year to Brown County, IN, and at least once a season I head somewhere rowdier—Copper Harbor, etc.

I built this bike to be as light as reasonably possible without sacrificing durability, especially given my 220-lb riding weight. I think it strikes that balance really well. I run the flip chip in the high position most of the time, but for weekends at more DH-focused spots I’ll swap to gnarlier tires and drop it into the low position.

This is my absolute dream build. Short of completely unnecessary upgrades like top-tier groupsets or pure lust items like eeWings, there’s honestly nothing I’d change.
