looks like your compression plug sits too high in the steerer for the center of your new top cap. either lower the compression plug or use the old cap.

Why the new one?
Anyway… if you really want the new one, you can install your stem using the old one. Then when the stem is locked in, swap the new one for the old one. Beware you’ll be in a shitty spot if you need to adjust/fix your headset on the road.

The one on the right looks mangled. Preload screws for headsets are generally identical threads.

If you would rather use the new one then put on a slightly larger (taller) steerer tube spacer on top of the stem.
