  1. ive always had the thought “build em a bike they’ll want to ride”. ive purchased and built every mix of cutesy mixte frames and single speeds and good rolling tires and other combos. came to the conclusion its just not gonna happen, as its hard to compete with bubble pop farming apps on an iphone.

I built my lady a townie out of a light steel Bianchi and put lots of colorful accessories. She rides it because it’s light and cute. This bike is not that.

  3. I got my wife a bike setup and she has not been on it a single time. To her defense she was recovering from childbirth etc. The tires I put on it have already dry rotted and cracked so it is not even ready to ride anymore. It is disappointing but I know not to spend any more money or time on her bike and if I need any upgrades or maintenance on my bike I should just do it. I should just sell the bike.

  4. I have built at least a dozen bikes for family members. Maybe 3 of those have seen any use.
I’m not even going to talk about the ten or so bikes I’ve made for my wife that she has never even rode once.

  5. Not built but bought. I had the same thought, we could ride together. We got it all prettied up, put a rack on it, matching panniers, helmet, and other things. She tried to ride once, slipped off the pedal and scraped up her shin. Never touched it again and said she never would. So I sold it.

  6. 🙋🏻‍♂️ built a Trek 830 for my partner and she’s ridden it twice for a total of 20 minutes. It’s okay though, it was a fun build and I like the fact that she has a bike if she ever wants to ride with me. Lately she’s been asking for an e-bike though 😐
