Hey everyone,

I've noticed some rust spots starting to show up on my bike recently. Before I do anything stupid and make it worse, I wanted to check in with the experts here.

What do you do normally to remove this rust and protect it from further damage?

I’m a total beginner at bike maintenance, so any "explain like I'm five" advice would be amazing. I really don't want to kill my ride!

Thanks in advance!

Rust on hinge is normal. Just oil it and maybe use WD40 first to displace any water. Rust on seatpost holding part. I haven’t seen it before. I have A line too, but now it is beyond C line equipment wise.

It’s a steel bike it will rust. My advice get yourself some rust inhibitor such as Muc off HCB1 spray it in the tubes once a year and will mitigate most rust build up, oil your hinges once every few weeks will also prevent any hinge rust and keep the bike dry when you can.
