As long as nothing is bent or totally seized you can get away with clean and grease, but a new one is pretty cheap, if you’re going through the trouble of taking it all apart

  2. But when you take the rust off, it’ll be smaller, barely fractionally but I reckon it’ll be enough for a slight wobble, and then continued use.
Short journeys ok, repeated use, change it.

    Yep. Clean it. Grease it.
Minor pitting is nothing at all to this BB.
It’s adjustable, so it there it play, adjust accordingly.
Bearing are cheap, you don’t need a bearing cage, all it does is make it simpler to service, so loose ball will do the trick.

  4. Soak everything is a bucket of Evaporust from Harbor Frieght for 24 hours.

Rinse the bearing out with a a couple washes of
Mineral Spirits. Blow them out with compressed air.

Then relubricate with Phil Wood products.

  5. Clean, INSPECT, and grease. If there’s pitting in the spindle, cups, or balls, it won’t heal itself. It’s up to you whether to roll on rough bearings or not.

  6. Yeah assuming the rest is in similar condition that’s got thousands of miles of life left in it with proper maintenance going forward.
