  1. Action cameras generally don’t have great battery life. If it’s super cheap it might be worthwhile.

I use [this one.](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCNN76F5?th=1) It’s $90, has good battery life, and I can read plates pretty easily. It also has a cable that is made to attach to a battery pack and attaches to a standard Garmin mount so it’s super easy to remove. I have used a Go Pro and found that I had to charge it every ride and attaching/detaching was a pain so if I wanted to go into a coffee shop or store I had to deal with that. Even charging it was a pain as I had to take it out of the plastic shell.

  2. Don’t know anything about that particular brand, but it’s often good to get a cheap model first, so you get the chance to learn what you like or don’t like without investing big money.

How will you mount the camera?

  3. For $10, I’d buy it if you need it. Quick amazon search shows a $30 one and another one with a front and back digital screen for $50. Resolution-wise I’d say they’re pretty much all the same at that budget, but fine as a dash-cam kind of use. Even GoPros don’t usually have good clarity at larger distances and would only be able to capture license plates close up (50ft or so).

I agree with the other comment about battery life. They usually last about 45min to 1hr of filming and you can either charge through the camera (usually through uscb-c) or by taking out the battery and charging it with a specific battery charger – often charging 2+ batteries at once so you can rotate through them during long rides etc. I have mine connected to a buckle mount to my helmet. It’s a bit top-heavy but I like that I can point where I want to record and it’s easy to remove if I’m not using it. A handlebar mount could be ok but the footage is jittery.
