I'm using a NR rear derailleur on a generic mounting claw and this is as far forward as it swings. Is the circled gap a problem or should the rd be hitting the claw flat(ter)? Pic two is the angle of the rd in forwardmost position.
Until you’re fitting it with the chain and the freewheel, you won’t know. If you’re trying to get the maximum range, chain length is critical. The axle position in the horizontal dropouts works similarly to a “b” screw, controlling chain gap with large cogs.

This looks a little further back than ideal, that adapter claw is shaped a little strangely. Look up pictures of old Campagnolo derailleurs on their own dropouts to see the ideal angle.
