I’d probably give it a miss. 10 speed 105 was a while ago.

The 10-speed 5600-generation Shimano 105 groupset on this bike was introduced in 2005 (and superceded by 5700 in 2010), so this bike is between 16-21 years old. $400 for a full-carbon frame like this Synapse is a fair price assuming the bike is well taken care of and has not had any crashes.
Though 5600 105 is rather dated (the current R7100 Shimano 105 is 5 generations later than this one), it still works and is not a bad choice for a beginner cyclist, if that’s what your husband is. The upside with older rim-brake bikes like this one is that they are relatively easy to do maintenance and repairs on, so it’s a good bike to learn on.

The Synapse is a great choice for a beginner cyclist, and the Shimano 105 is the perfect spec.
Price is good if the bike is ready to ride and well taken care of (which it appears to be. It would sell very quickly in my market.
See if the seller will meet you at a bike shop so they can give a repair estimate before you buy.
That era of 10 speed is nice. Plenty of gear ratio, durable shifters with good ergonomics. Everything since then is marginal improvement at best.
