Is it trying to climb into the next cog? That’s what it looks like to me? If so you need to adjust your rear derailleur

Just put this freewheel on my bike and a new (waxed) KMC Z6 chain. The chain is skipping on the smallest cog and it seems like the spacing is off? I put my old chain on (SRAM PC-850) and it’s not skipping, though I do feel a bit of vibration in the drivetrain. There’s ~700-800 miles of wear on the old chain, but the chain checker shows > 0.5% elongation on the old chain. FWIW the 8 speed SRAM chain shifts a lot cleaner than the KMC Z6 chain.

Is the small cog worn out (doesn’t look like it visually)? Is it possible I have a defective Z6 chain? Something else?

  3. A bit unrelated to this issue. But for vintage transmission systems, I’m a fan of OLD chains in good or new-old-stock condition.
