A huge week in bike tech and industry news. Cannondale’s long-awaited CAAD14 appears to have leaked, sparking debate about aluminium race bikes, pricing, and why it’s taken so long to arrive. I also get hands-on with what might be the most expensive road bike I’ve ever seen — a £35,000 piece of rolling art. Add to that the growing SRAM vs Shimano battle in the WorldTour, Cane Creek entering the internal routing game, and Rose Bikes officially returning to the UK market, and there’s a lot to unpack.

  1. Hi David, looks like a glitch around 28s in with a block box on the screen bottom right – incase you want to re-edit before it gets lots of views

  2. There is allot to like about the Caad 14. Return to classic seat stays – looks great and compliance benefits of dropped seat stays is likely offset by alu build anyway; The new trend of wider tires on race bikes will likely offset any of the "harsh" riding characteristics of the alu frame; the frameset will not be cheap, but it will be relatively cheap compared to carbon equivelants and considering the price of new bikes, that is a great thing

  3. All? Who? Nobody lol. Everybody want new SL9, Y2RS, new cervelo S6, crux 2… watts, grams, speed, aero is the name of the game! Who on earth wants that aluminium crap

  4. Why choose the Caad14 over a Massacan, Standert or Condor?
They are more special and might be cheaper.
The Massacan will be a better fit since they offer custom geometry for no extra.

  5. Yay, 2026 – another year with David! So $35K, huh? I don't think there are 88 people that stupid and rich at the same time, but good luck with that. The CAAD welding is monstrously ugly – no other phrase will do. My Moots RSL is mechanical rim and I like my wires thank you very much. Sorry Cane Creek, but your product will not affect my podium time or anyone else's. I might slam my Ti stem just so I can see the cables better now. Too bad Campy is not in the SRAM – Shimano fight, it's going to be a good one. Great video.

  6. If Cannondale were to offer a frame only option then that would definitely be appealing. I'd rather build my own spec instead of having to pay for stuff I'm going to ultimately swap out. Have both the C10 and C12 but took a rain check on the 13. Bring on the C14!

  7. A CAAD for $7500. That's crazy talk. Even in this time of inflated bike prices, CAADs are supposed to be affordable crit bikes that you're not worried about crashing. The CAAD (and Giant's TCR) should be dirt cheap.
