I honestly never took note of the notches. I always read what was on the side of my chokes.
Could you explain what each of these mean?
Awesome! Thanks man
in Europe is 1 STAR 2 stars 3 4 an 5
Not really much of an explanation of what those words mean
Now name what rounds for what. Choke. Ex. Buckshot or slugs
mine has no notches, took it out is modified
THE NOTCHES KINDA" LOOK" THE SPREAD PATERN
Ty i was looking for this❤
How does it work?
Great information.
I was aware that the number of notches signified the amount of choke, but hadn't looked it up yet.
Now it's stired on my phone.
My thanks……
The notches are for vision impaired shooters. 😂
Whats improved cylinder mean
Im sorry but whay does any od this mean? Im trying to run slugs. Whats the best choke for that?
In UK
I never knew that I’m glad this came across my shorts lol
so what if it says modified but it only has 2 2 notches not 3
So which one will allowe me to fire a slug?
Excellent information! Just yesterday I removed a Beretta 1301 Tactical’s choke for cleaning, and had no idea what its four notches signified.
How do i know which choke should i use ?
Is it just me or do they all have the same amount of notches 🤔🤔
Never mind I see it now.. thank you🙏🙏
That must only apply to certain brands of chokes cuz mine doesn't have any notches it has modified stamped on the sides
Ok, but what do the different names/types of chokes actually do?
I’ll be shooting just buckshot & slugs, what choke should I have for best accuracy?
Hold on, let me write that down 😂
3 and 4
Man dove hunting opening is tomorrow and this saved my bacon
What's best for home defense
What if it doesn’t have any notches??
What if there are no notches ? I have a baikal that came with a choke tube that hs no notches
Is it different from Invector Plus types? I have chokes from Browning I believe. I want improved modified but cant find website that ship it worldwide
is modified = half choke?
improved cylineder = 1/4 choke ?
cylinder = open/ o choke ??
What’s Better ?
You can can imagine the notches represent how wide the pattern is. 1 notch is very narrow, as if only as narrow as the barrel, 5 notches is the widest. Like looking at the shot pattern as it comes out of the barrel. The more the notches, the wider the pattern. You don't even need to know the name as importantly. Unless of course someone asks what choke are you using. "3 notch" 🙂
IIIII- Cylinder. Widest. Just the "cylinder" of the bore nothing else.
IIII- Improved Cylinder. Tighter (improved) than cylinder.
III- Modified (reminds me of middle or medium) mid tightness even looks like an "M". kinda…
II- Improved Modified- Tighter than Modified.
I-Full choke tightest, narrowest pattern.
Done this since i was a kid…
Is this notch system the same on every brand of shotgun? I just bought a new CZ Teal in 20 gauge.
I thought 5 notches would be “SKEET” and I guess 6 would be cylinder. Let me know
