Hey everyone 🙂
I need your bike brain power
I’ve been riding GRX400 2×10 (46t–30t) for quite a while now and my chainrings are officially dead.
So I have to replace them anyway… and now I’m like:
“Hmm… should I just replace with the same, new chainrings, or should I upgrade?”
So here’s the situation:
- Bike: secondary bike, not my main princess
- Drivetrain: GRX400 2×10
- Current rings: 46/30
I’m thinking about a few options and I need your wisdom:
1) What are good aftermarket chainring options for GRX 2×10?
- Doesn’t have to be fancy
- China stuff is totally fine
- Just needs to shift well and not explode
2) Does it make sense to go 1×10 on this setup?
I have 1x on my other bike I love it, but I'm scared that the range won't be sufficient for me…
3) just buy new, same chainrings
Any advice, experience, links, stories, all welcome.
Thanks and have a lovely weekend 🙂

I’m eyeing a garbaruk 11 speed cassette that can do a whopping 10-50 range with their own cage. Gaps aren’t that tight but it’s a 1by
If you’re trying to save money, a cheaper 1x chainring and a used 1x rear derailleur will probably cost less than the Shimano set of chainrings.
I honestly have tried some cheapo AliExpress/Amazon Chinese brand chainrings and haven’t had any issues. If you want a nice 1x chainring, you can always go with name brand like wolftooth or garbaruk.
Just buy a replacement crank with the same chain rings, it will be cheaper than buying the chain rings individually. The GRX 2×10 cranks have gone down in price. This is the simplest the most cost-effective move.
