I recently traveled to the Netherlands and Belgium for a bicycle vacation. We joined outstanding leaders from Trek Travel to experience the world-famous Keukenhof tulip gardens, windmills at Kinderdijk — a World Heritage Site, and the medieval charm of Brugge, Belgium — a World Heritage site itself. We stayed in first-class hotels right in the thick of the activity, ate in wonderful restaurants and cafes, and learned why they say, God built the world, but the Dutch built the Netherlands!” We rode Trek Domane bicycles with Shimano Di2 components, as we traveled from Amsterdam to The Hague, across the border into Belgium, and eventually Brugge. Among the highlights was a ride to the AtlantikWall museum where we witnessed how the Germans dug in along the coast trying to prevent an Allied invasion. In this video I take you along on the bike and to the various attractions so you can see first hand the amazing scenery and culture all accessible by bicycle.

At 10:45 min.: The unassuming river mouth that you crossed is nothing less than the original mouth of the mighty river Rhine that starts in the east of switzerland! During the Roman occupation, the river formed part of the northern border of the Empire!
Nowadays, Amsterdam is generally considered 'the Venice of the North', or rather, Venice is considered 'the Amsterdam of the South', given the fact that Amsterdam has much more water and many more bridges than Venice!
Don't say or name the country Holland.. it is disrespectful and lots of dutch people can get very angry about that it is like we call the USA texas !!!! if you talk about the province holland you have to specify the province holland and which part north or south holland.
No mountains but it's windy in the Netherlands.
Great video, I appreciate the fact you covered all of this distance on bicycle!
The small cars aren't like regular cars, they are called in Dutch 'brommobiel'. They have a moped motor in them and can't go faster then 45KmH, they also carry a moped insurance plate and those small cars are allowed on cycle paths.
The windmills aren't only used for pumping out water but they are also used as a saw mill, the grinding of grain (corn mill) and other things.
The head of the mill can be turned to catch the wind in any direction.
We not only we use the bike to go to work but also to go to school, to sport clubs, to do groceries and many more things and not just in Amsterdam but all over the Netherlands.
The Atlantic Wall ran from Norway, through Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, to France, all the way to the Spanish border. The defensive line, which was never fully completed, consisted of casemates or bunkers, cannons, and minefields.
