This year I would love to do a 100mi MTB ride. Leadville is my dream but for a variety of reasons it wont be possible and I need to stick closer to home.
How does this route look around Tahoe? it starts in truckee following sawtooth road to rim trail to flume trail before continuing onto the rim trail all the way past heavenly before descending down Saxon Creek.
Experienced rider including many road centuries, an ultra marathon, Ironman 70.3, and big mtb adventures. Coming off my highest volume year ever and will be training for the next 8 months in preparation for this in late July. My wife will be supporting me with four meetups along the way.
The stats dont look that much worse than Leadville with 16k of climbing but I am concerned the 3k foot climb at mile 80 up Freely peak in Heavenly may be too gnarly…
