I'm just curious what y'all are rocking for touring…

I've always had drops on all my bikes, but I changed my commuter handlebars to this recently which is very upright and swept back and I really love the riding position.

I went back on my touring bike today and suddenly the drop bars are feeling really uncomfortable and stretched out.

Part of me is thinking to switch it up for something more upright with a MTB groupset on it. Thinking it could be way more comfy for touring!

  1. Did a 11.000km tour with dropbars. Love the look but I cant help but feel that flat bars and a more upright cycling position would have been the sensible choice 😄

  2. I’ve done all my touring with drop bars, but still want to switch to something like a Velo Orange Crazy Bar or Jones Bar.

  3. I’ve done most of my tours on drop bars as well, I preferred it back when I initially switch to drop bars and I still like it. I did adjust my fit over time, though – in particular unflipping the stem to bring it a bit higher. I also have clip-on aero bars with some spacers, and the way its set up now I can stay in the aero position for more than an hour without it feeling uncomfortable, the hoods feel like I can ride in them forever, and I still have the (flared) drops for steep downhill or more control off-road. I’m pretty happy with my setup; which is the most important thing I guess. Nothing wrong with flat bars if thats what you prefer.
