hello, i recently got a 1990 miyata 1000 lt, it came pretty stocked and in good working condition. my question is: i would love to swap out the stock 7 speed freewheel to a 9 speed cassette. i believe the rear wheel spacing is 130mm / 700c. if anyone here has any experience doing this please let me know.

current wheels:

700c x 32

i know you can max out to 38mm or 35mm w fenders.

i’m aware ppl cold set from 126mm to 130mm / 135mm

i’ve seen some posts floating around from a couple years ago of ppl doing this. would the simplest option be to get a full new wheel/ 9 speed compatible freehub? if so please share your build list. i’m planning to use friction shimano bar end shifters and a long cage rd/ 9 speed fd and keeping the original crankset.

here is example of what im thinking:

anyways, excited to start this project. thank you for anyone reading
