






So I took apart the rear hub before christmas to change the berrings.
In putting it back together, I am struggling to confirm the orientation of the following component (idk if it is a race / cone, or just a dust cap thing) (picture one).
My intuition is flared side up as in pic 3 / pic 6.
Pic 4 it on axel flair down which looks wrong but but creates a better seal on the berring area and the lines on the dust cap on the hub match up.
Pic 5 shows the drive side hub (Whyte branded hub, couldn't identify model) without the axel. I am 99% sure the berrings are in the right place but not 100%
I am fairly sure it is for the drive side as the non drive side (pic 7) seals well.
Pic 6 is it in the hub. It looks okay, but I am still not 100% that is correct

Yes, the part in picture 2 goes on the outside of the drive side cone to create a tighter seal.
Edit: sorry if I wasn’t clear. Its wrench flats fit over the cone’s wrench flats, and the locknut goes against its side with the wrench flats.
