Picked up this old Ricardo ‘Beach Bike’ for $20 to use as a beater bike.
Dealt with a bunch of surface rust, greased the stuff that needed greasing, replaced the tubes, and now am trying to not fall into the trap of adding a whole bunch of beautiful new parts on it.
26×2 wheels, dia-compe brakes, ‘tracer’ cranks, and otherwise no-name parts.
I’ve ordered some cheap replacement grips (these are perishing a fair bit) and a bottle cage. I know I need new tyres because these are over 10 years old apparently, but am unsure whether to keep working on it or stop. What would you suggest I upgrade/add to make it more useful/fun without going full fancy rebuild?
My regular bike is a road bike built up for commuting with panniers etc. for what it’s worth.
