I was EXTREMELY excited to bump into 2 of these at a cycling shop on my Christmas holidays to NL… I get weirdly giddy with all things odd and bike; this ticks both these boxes.

Volvo “Itera” plastic bicycle from the late 70s/early 80s, designed for the oil crisis. Utterly useless bike as with cold winter 🥶 the plastic gets way too brittle … I would expect it wouldn’t survive an average Dutch speed bump 😂
Still really special or what!! Only 10 of these exist in the Netherlands and I saw 👀 2!!!
Just fabulous

Wobbly in summer and fragile I’m winter. I know them only from museums or exhibitions.

Itera. Swedish bicycle that was popularized in the early 80s. Sold under the slogan that ”the frame is indestructible ”. Since frame structure (steel) really never was an issue and the bike was terrible in every way, it could be seen for a short period on the streets of Stockholm for a short while. Teachers type female raiders commonly.

I can’t believe it, this almost exactly the same handlebar design as the specialized Como.

Sans rack, it kinda reminds me of the trek lime.
