Where Can You Legally Ride a Dirt Bike in the UK? 🇬🇧 🏍️
Hey riders! Today, we’re tackling one of the biggest questions UK dirt bikers have: Where can you legally ride a dirt bike?
Finding the right spots can be tricky, so we’re breaking down four options to make it easier for you. Let’s get into it!
🔹 Motocross Tracks Your safest bet for legal riding, motocross tracks are ideal for both beginners and experienced riders. Tracks like FatCat MotoPark in Yorkshire offer well-maintained, challenging terrain where you don’t need a road-legal bike. Just pay your entry fee, and you’re good to go!
🔹 Green Lanes Green lanes are ancient unpaved roads that are legal to ride on, but you’ll need a road-legal bike, with tax, MOT, insurance, and a proper license. While it takes some paperwork, many green lanes offer beautiful trails that are well worth the effort.
🔹 Private Land With the landowner’s permission, riding on private land is straightforward and doesn’t require a road-legal bike or license. Just make sure you have written permission to avoid any issues. It’s a hassle-free option if you have access to private property.
🔹 Organised Events Organised events are perfect for an all-inclusive experience. With a day pass or an ACU license, you get access to maintained tracks, medical support, and the chance to ride with other enthusiasts. These events are ideal for improving your skills in a safe environment.
Quick Recap:
Motocross Tracks: Great for easy, no-hassle riding.
Green Lanes: Perfect for adventure riders with road-legal bikes.
Private Land: Just get permission, and you’re set.
Organised Events: The best all-around experience.
Whatever you choose, remember to ride safe and respect the rules to keep these spots open for all riders. Drop a comment if you know other great legal spots, and don’t forget to subscribe for more dirt bike tips and content. Catch you on the trails! 🌄
