This is my 51cm 2019 SuperX. I am switching it from cx to gravel mode and was wondering what the max tire clearance is for the frame. It is stated at 40mm, but I’ve heard of people going larger. Anyone have any experience with this bike? I’d test it myself, but tire prices these days make it more of a gamble than I’d like.

I have one in size 54cm. I currently have 40mm Terra Speed on the stock alloy rims (I think they are 21mm internal?) on it and have around 7-8mm of clearance on the rear chainstay.
I have debated sizing up to 45mm but like you said I don’t want to get stuck with expensive tires that don’t fit. Because of the AI offset I can’t just swap in a wheel from a friend to test.
Ted King ran 42mm Rene Herse Hurricane Ridge on a SuperX in 2019 for DK/Unbound. I think that is the last year he raced this gen frame.
