I just got my gravelbike since last week and I love it! I did a 67km gravel trip a few days ago where it was mostly gravel. I set both tyres to 2 bar (29psi). I think this pressure was good because the ride went smooth, altough I'm still discovering the bike itself and still learning.
I have another 90km gravel trip planned in 2 days and want to have my tyres set to the correct pressure. According to ChatGPT my tyres should be at 1.6 / 1.8 for this ride. This is for 50% road and 50% unpaved/non-road. But a few days ago it also warned me to not go below 1.6 because the tyres could get damaged. I know, ChatGPT isn't always correct, but the shopkeeper even told me 3 bar is good for mostly all terrain which I really doubt is correct.
For anyone wondering, this is the route: https://www.komoot.com/nl-nl/tour/1334695177
I have a Trek Checkpoint SL 6 AXS Gen 3. 42mm tubeless tyres. Weigh about 75kg.
Thanks in advance!

That seems really low pressure

DO NOT ASK CHATGPT FOR BIKE INFORMATION
use a proper tire pressure calculator: https://silca.cc/en-eu/pages/tire-pressure-calculator-1?
At the end of the day these are only suggestions, there’s no right or wrong answer only preference, go by feeling
It is rather personal. To me, on my 38 mm I run 1.5 bar back and front. It gives me a great balance of comfort without being too bouncy.
We out here arguing correct tire pressures all day, every day, and you have the gall to ask google’s-google?
I put 40’s in my 40’s because I like to hit bumps fast and hard
I run 30 and 32 psi with 55s. Get yourself one of those battery-powered inflators.
Why on earth are using chat gpt? It’s a bullshit machine.
I’m on 45s and run them about 30/35 (F/R). The guides are good for a well educated starter for 10. Then it’s about experience and personal preference. Some can get away with lower pressure as they are smoother. Others need more as they hit stuff harder.
Use the Silca or Zipp calculator. On the Silca one, input the roughest type of terrain you’ll be riding on unless you’ve got a significant mix of pavement in there, in which case kinda just split the difference in my experience. That becomes a learn by doing thing
Thanks all. This helped me!
Use Silca calculator as advised, but I’d encourage you to take it as a starting point for further experimentation. Inflate, deflate, see how it rides, at the end of day pressure is one of the most individual things when it comes to bike feeling preference
Chat GPT was trained by the internet. The internet is more than half full of shit,so chat GPT is half or more full of shit. Stop asking chat GPT anything ever. If you want to know about cooking ask a cook, if you want to know about bikes ask a bike mechanic, or more than one your shopkeeper sounds old school. If you need a therapist, get a damned therapist.
Everyone I know who thinks chat GPT is credible and asks it regularly for assistance is making a mess of their life and showing a serious lack of judgement and an inability to trust themselves to find their own conclusions.
JUST STOP!!!
Rant over.
How much do you weigh and what is the tire volume?
You start with a pressure then go test come back test another until you find your sweet spot. No magic, just some work.
When I ride mixed on my 40s I’m at 34psi rear and 30psi front. That’s for Cat 2 and Road mix. Im also 75kg
