Im buying my first new mountain bike but I just cant decide.

I've had a cannondale foray as my first bike for 5 years now and finally saved up enough to buy a new one. However both of these bikes are at the exact same price of 640USD and secondhand.

The first is a devinchi atlas with sram eagle groupset. With guide brakes,29 inch wheels and size medium frame.Rockshox front fork.

Second is a commencal Meta HT.Shimano xt groupset with a mullet setup with 29 and 27.5,and an exo form dropper post. Also medium frame.Fox front fork.

Both bikes look absolutely stunning and both have what I think is similar components.Only problem with the devinchi is the lack of dropper post which is gonna add a little bit to the cost of the bike.Ive ridden my hardtail cannondale for the entire time I've been mountain biking and I'm now at a crossroads to either a getting better bike or going for full suspension.any advice will help me a ton.

  1. seriouslyaverage on

I think the Commencal is the way to go. The Devinci geo looks a bit older, which is not an issue, it’s as good as when it was brand new, but generally riders prefer a bit more aggressive of a geo which the Commencal provides.

Also a hardtail is much nicer to maintain due to only having one piece of suspension to service and no linkage bearings to worry about.

  2. I’d take the hardtail at that price. It’s a better bike than the devinci and has nicer components.
