Looking at a used 2022 Pivot Vault in size Small for $3,500. Full carbon frame with Isoflex. Specs include Rotor Aldu 165 cranks (1x 44T), SRAM Force shifters and brakes, SRAM Eagle 10-50 cassette with XX1 rear derailleur and chain, BB Infinite 386 Evo bottom bracket, Prime Primavera aero bars, Stan’s Grail CB7 carbon wheels with Neo Ultimate hubs, and Panaracer Gravelking SS+ 700×38 tanwalls.

Bike has one cosmetic scratch on the derailleur from tipping over but no crashes.

I am 5’7 and ride a 52 road bike. I want something fast for a 60 mile gravel race. I care more about race feel than comfort. Is this a smart buy at $3,500 or overpriced. Anything I should watch out for on this model or build. How is the value on these carbon Stan’s wheels. Would you offer less.

  1. That’s overpriced. I just sold my ’20 Vault (same paint & geo except mine was a medium) with Shimano Di2 40 x 10-42 11-speed, GRX Di2 rear drlr, Ultegra brakes, DT Swiss wheels, Easton bars, new WTB 42c tires. I got $1400 for mine. This one does have carbon wheels and some bits of spec are a little different, but nothing is crazy different aside from the wheels. The one you’re looking at has been on ebay for months and they haven’t lowered the price for whatever reason. I would offer them $2000 and see if they bite, what’s the worst that can happen?

The Vault is a good bike though, I put over 9,000 miles on mine and it handled it great. As for complaints, I’d say the Vault rides a little harsh – even with the seat post elastomer insert thing. I replaced it with a Propain Terrel and cannot believe how much smoother my new bike rides.
