I love cycling in the Andes and just wanted to drop some photos here of a recent XC race near Cuenca, Ecuador.
30km and 800m. I took second in my 30-39 age group. Entry was $10 and it was associated with a big celebration in a little village.
I absolutely love riding here the countryside is beautiful and there’s tons of trail and dirt road all over the place. Flow trails are sparse but this province (Azuay) is known for producing excellent downhillers and Enduro riders and there’s a bunch of both trail types. Oh yeah it’s at 2500 meters so if you do a discipline where pedaling is important when you go back to sea level you’ll absolutely destroy everyone.
