Taking on the 7,500km European Divide Trail on a unicycle! Rebekka Wiedener’s phenomenal unipacking achievement!

I had the absolute pleasure of being able to chat with Rebekka Wiedener and learn about her experiences of taking on the European Divide Trail on her unicycle. An achievement like this is hard to comprehend. The trail is a demanding one and to complete it in its entirety on a unicycle blows my mind.

Rebekka calls this form of travel on her unicycle unipacking and she shared with me how she first got into unicycling at the age of 10 and about her adventures since. Before the European Divide Trail she took on the Arizona Trail – which must be said is an incredible achievement. Since then she cycled Scotland – including riding up Ben Nevis – toured through Germany, and then earlier this year set off from Southern Spain to take on the European Divide Trail.

She endured lots of inclement weather in Spain, making the trails muddy and even harder. She talked me through the highs and lows – including hike a bike sections on the southern parts of the trail which went on for hours at a time.
