Save this for your next trip to london.

if you are wanting to use the subway in london. Don’t buy a ticket from the ticket machines. Those machines are extremely confusing and you will end up spending more than you need to or might not buy the right ticket and have problems exiting the subway. Instead use a contactless (or tap pay) card to scan into and out of the subway. This makes sure you always pay the right amount. Plus, if you ride several times, when you hit the cap for the day (about 8 pounds if you are staying inside the city) than it will stop charging you beyond that.

  1. naahh the machines are not confusing at all, but sometimes your debit card will not work in them
I wanted to recharge my oyster card whilst visiting back to london and none of the machines around Kings Cross would work with my card
Also look in to a weekly travel card if you are on hols and will be using it a lot

  2. me and my family arrived London on Wednesday and we bought 4 oysters cards for £126 , and we ride underground from Heathrow airport to Green park. the next day we try to use again in the underground , we all got negative £ 5.6 , the agent told us the card is not valid for the underground , so confused , we can’t even call the Oyster company to ask since we don’t have local phone numbers 😮

  3. I need help please i want to hop on and off different places. I arrive into heathrow terminal 5 and want to go to Paddington and different places whats best for me? Day pass or oyster card?

  4. The Oyster pass has a daily charge limit. A maximum amount that can be charged in one day (24hr) of travel and one week. While it might not be for everyone, as a tourist, it can be very beneficial to have a card if using public transit multiple times in the same day. You can also share one Oyster card with your entire family.

  5. if you're travelling a lot in one week, get a weekly travelcard. if you're travelling a lot in one day and not much the rest of your holiday, get a day travelcard. amd get it in paper, not oyster. so much simpler

  6. Transport for London has a Best ways for visitors to pay page on their website if that helps anyone. You can also get a refund for any remaining credit on an Oyster card. You can do this online, at a Tube station, or by contacting TfL, though there may be a small admin fee if you're claiming by post.
