I realized just the other day that I haven’t been paying attention to the state of tires for a while. I think these are about 4,000 miles in.

It’s rear on the left and front on the right, as you may have guessed.

Does it make sense to rotate them at this point? To get more life out of them. Or should the rear one be replaced at this point? I’m a bit afraid that I’ll lose grip when steering if I move the rear one to the front, especially in wet conditions.

I am not attached to these tires. So if I were to replace just one of them, I’d prefer to just get an entirely different set altogether. That’s why I’m trying to figure out if I can just squeeze a little bit more life out of both of them or it’s time to move on to the next set.

Buy 1 new one and put it on the front, move front to back…. Never put the bald tire up front

  2. Is rotating tires something that people do? I have been riding bikes for 43 years and have never once did it.

For pavement riding, it’s not a problem. The thread pattern doesn’t contribute to grip on (wet) pavement. If anything the bald tire will have more grip on wet pavement. The thread only matters for grip on loose surfaces such as gravel or mud.

If you’re not a fan of these tires, then just go ahead and replace the whole set for something you prefer.
4k miles is a lot of riding to put up with a set of tires that don’t fit your needs.
It’s the holidays, treat yourself and get what you really want

  5. “4k miles” dude, where do yall buy your tires?? I got like 200 out my stock ones that came on my bike. Granted Its an E-bike and I can imagine that makes a difference, but 4k?

Nope put the slick on the front you’ll get more mileage outta them tires… and reduce rolling resistance
