Hi fellow mtbers!
I have had this helmet for about 2 months. I try to take really good care of it, but since day one I have seen these scratches or sections where it seems the top coat is peeling off. I do not place it on rough surfaces and always keep it in it’s bag when travelling.
It seems crazy that such an expensive piece of equipment is so fragile! My previous Catlike helmet were 8 years old and looks much better on the outside!
Have anyone else seen this happening to a new helmet and what would you recommend I do?

A lot of matte black helmets tend to do this. My Giro looks similar. At the end of the day, it’s a disposable item, and it isn’t going to look perfect forever. Honestly looks really good for 2 months of riding!
Don’t worry about it and 8 yrs is old for a helmet, FYI.
will happen to most plastics things with such a matte finish. Had the same happen to some fox helmet, keyboards, mice to quite a massive extent (basically full exfoliation :D). Haven’t noticed this on my poc helmets, but I guess that’s because I don’t care as much. It’s a MTB helmet after all.
It probably should last longer but those matte/soft touch coatings on plastic are awful in general. They always eventually break down and sometimes get all sticky and gross.
It’s **good design** you immediately notice when the helmet may have been weakened!
Make sure it’s scratches and not cracks.
I keep the helmet **in my head** when I travel, e.g. boarding planes… because it’s when it’s more likely to be compressed and lose the structural integrity you want to protect your brain.
