I'm aware that there are a lot of products that are basically adult-sized wet wipes that can be used to wipe yourself off with after a ride and get clean (and may include some all-body deodorant) without taking a shower; thing is, they also create waste. What I'm looking for is something that would just be the liquid from these wipes that could be sprayed on a bandana or a PackTowl which would then be rinsed out. What I'm not looking for:

  • Soap. I know about soap; that requires rinsing and I want something that will clean me (or at least some of the stinkier areas of me) in one pass.
  • Plain water; I know about that, too.
  • Something like this, which seems to be specific to ass-wiping.

Edit: wow, wasn't expecting so many replies so soon! Thanks to everyone who replied with ideas and suggestions; Clean Life sounds like just what I was looking for, and I'll also consider a "stank audit."

If I have access to a lot of water, which is usually the case, I use a squirt bottle and a bandana. It’s not perfect, but it works for me.

I usually also have some biodegradable soap.

if my body is clean before I ride my bike to work, I just worry about drying off the sweat with a dry washcloth or paper towel.

my solution honestly would be a mild/diluted/very thinned liquid body soap in a spray bottle? bring that with a towel & that could work? i dont know how long it would keep in the bottle though

  4. Why not the item you linked? Just because it’s designed for your ass doesn’t mean it can’t be used elsewhere. Looks like a decent enough product

They make no wash soap. Almost all hospitals use it and it is making its way into camping sections. It is usually a better ph balance and doesn’t strip all of the oils off so it doesn’t dry your skin out as much. There are tons of brands, Clean Life is one of the main ones.

I just put one drop of Dawn blue regular penguin soap on the bandana before heading into work. Wet & wash, wet & wash some more, repeat 3-4 more times then dry off with a microfiber towel.

  7. Isopropyl alcohol, to answer your question, however: Do you actually stink after a ride to the point that you need these? Have you performed a stank audit with other people after drying off, changing, and applying underarm deodorant? Presumably, you’ve showered the night before or even in the morning and can’t really be that gross. Though, I understand some people do have more persistent body odor.

For some reason my picture doesn’t attach. It’s called “tvättkräm” in my language.

I wipe butts professionally, and this is the product you should use. Go to pharmacy and ask!

  9. Ziplock yes, One zip with slightly damp soapy wash cloth. One zip wetter with water for a rinse. Soft towle to dry with. Take home and wash before using again. For extra environment points use sealable silicone bags

  10. For bikepacking trips where hygiene is harder I’ll take a microfiber rag and a small reusable spray bottle (about 30-50ml) filled with 70% isopropyl 30% water. Can use ethanol but more expensive but maybe friendlier to skin. It’s essentially rubbing alcohol and you make a wet wipe exactly as you’re describing.

I used Gold Bond “Body Powder Spray” when I worked in a facility without a shower. Sprayed on, wiped off with a quick dry towel. Worked fine.
