It's a Genesis G500 for $75. The handle bars were tilted up for storage.

I'm a beginner looking for a lightish bike (my current one is 45lbs so really anything less than that lol). I want to ride about 10 miles a day minimum, so something comfortable for longer rides. Roads and (crappily) paved trails mostly. I would prefer something more upright. It's the appropriate size, I am on the shorter end of it though.

I don't know why the photo is so low quality lol. There's a video on the listing that's much clearer. No rust, no damage, only "issue" is the tires being low or needing new tubes.

It’s not a steal. It’s a Walmart brand. You’d be better off going to a local bike shop and see if they have a used better brand.

  2. For 75 bucks it’s a deal. I obviously can’t see if anything is majorly broken but assuming it’s not, I’d buy it

  3. Looks like a nice not expensive road bike. I’m ok with rim brakes tho some people would say go only with disks.

For bad roads I’d prefer a gravel bike with its wider tyres but this one totally rideable I think.

You could find better bikes on the used market. Every Genesis I’ve worked on has been such a pain in the ass and the frame is trash

  5. I wouldn’t fully recommend this without a couple of asterisks. It’s not going to be upright and it’s probably not going to be that comfortable. Genesis is a department store brand which leaves a lot to be desired in terms of serviceability and longevity. Essentially, what you’re saving upfront may be quickly lost on upkeep. Even just putting in new tubes would bring the cost up to $95 on the low end, provided you’re doing your own maintenance, and have the necessary tools on hand. I could see myself kicking something like this around for a while, but I’m a skilled mechanic and I know how to make things work. Seems like a gamble. Id say look for flat handlebars and wide tires.

Its only $75. As long as its mechanically sound then its perfectly fine, working bike. Generally, under $300 I don’t worry about the brand as much as about the mechanical condition of the bike.
