I have ultegra Di2 11 speed on my road bike. My question is how often do you really need to bleed your disc brakes?
Do you do it by feeling? Does the fluid get old and useless after a while? Do you need to care about the weather conditions? The last I remember I did bleed them was about 2,5 years ago. I honestly don’t feel anything wrong with them, but I was wondering if I might be approaching a moment I should do it.
TIA for your inputs.

Then don’t worry! I’ve got bikes I’ve not bled in 5+ years and the brakes are working absolutely fine. I’ve got others that I feel a need to bleed every 6 months or so as they get a bit spongy.

It’s good to bleed them when they feel like they have a long wandering bite point, feel spongy, or when you put in new pads, how the pads look?

  3. Shimano say you should replace your fluid every 12 months but apart from that if your brakes are working well with no problems as the old saying goes if it ain’t broken don’t fix it.
