I have to say that I've invested quite a bit in this bike, and I'm a little short on ideas for my next investment (apart from buying a new bike for disc brakes… oh yes, and now both water bottles are black!)

Absolutely nothing. Your bike is already optimized and performs exactly as it should. Rather than allocating budget to marginal upgrades, I would recommend investing in an overseas cycling trip instead—Switzerland would be an excellent example. This will deliver far greater experiential value than any hardware change
Brown bar tape and bottles
Bike radar – was a game changer for me. Knowing how many cars are approaching and how fast without turning my head just makes rides more fun – and safer.
An electric mini pump. I ride gravel and drop tire pressure on trials – and use the pump to re-inflate for the road. Get one with a built-in gauge.
A bike vacation – take some vacation time and ride.

If you have to ask, then your bike is fine. Save your money until you get to an upgrade you need.

Nothing …. but i would upgrade to a GP5k 32mm
1) Varia.
Since you already have the 1040, it’ll fit in with the Garmin ecosystem. It also has a light, which really does help.
There are always boutique components people can buy. However, at some point we need to tell ourselves that what we have is more than enough. I’ve fallen into this trap more often than I care to admit.
The Varia, in contrast, has significant ramifications on your safety.
2) Camera. This goes against the weight weenie/bike porn aesthetic so I get why some would roll their eyes. I can tell you, first hand, the peace of mind I get from mine is priceless. Furthermore, there are actually drivers and even cyclists who recognize immediately they’re being recorded. This significantly changes for the better how I’m treated.
