So im looking to buy a newer style brifters for my 90s model bike, its set up 1×9, shimamo xt derailleur any idea which shifters would work? Micro shifts? The pull is 1.7:1
I think you have other problems on your hands if you plan to run those brakes and those levers.
But I’d just run a bar end shifter in friction mode.

Like the other commenter said, you’ll need a Travel Agent if those aren’t mini-V brakes. Otherwise, all 9 speed shifters (except maybe Sword Black) will work.

If you have a 9s rear, just about any shifter should work. I have my 9s Deore XT (both versions) connected to 10s road shifters and they work great, like no skips or finicky bits. What I’ve found is that the cassette is generally more incompatible, with some microshift cassettes using a different spacing than shimano

Shimano 9 speed road sti works fine with mountain bike rear derailleur 9 speed. So I think you just need travel agents for the brakes. Hooking it all up should be pretty easy from here.

I can’t be helpful here other than to say…that’s a good looking bike so far.

Microshift R9 brifters, it’s all you need. I have 3 9spd bikes with these. Happy with all.
Edit to add if you’re using brakes, you’ll need a pull adapter.
Personally, I prefer cantis, but I upgraded to a sort of hybrid. I went AVID Shorty ultimate and they are amazing. Cantis that have minimal need for setup and adjustment. Which means they stop incredibly well, the biggest reason people don’t like cantis is setup and maintaining them. Vs are easier but modulation sucks.

“Newer style” as in STI levers with under-the-bartape shift cable routing? If that’s the case, the Sora 9-speed ST-R3000 levers has under-the-bartape routing and will work with an XT 9-speed rear derailleur. The V-brakes will require travel agents to work with STI levers as others mentioned.
