
Ordered these from CompetitiveCyclist (Backcountry) who I have had no issues with previously , but cmon, FOUR BROKEN BOAs?? Two on each shoe. Box is in perfect condition. I’ve used BOAs for 10+ years and assumed they were bulletproof at this point.
CC is offering to replace them, once I ship them back, but they don’t have the same color anymore. Any recs? Anyone dealt with something similar?
Half a mind just to use the BOA warranty, but I’m still just very confused and don’t want a different color – or to wait for the return process.

In my opinion, just do the BOA warranty. It’s really easy and they send out free. I’ve done it several times for my S Works shoes.
Why they broke? Not sure, maybe some kind of drastic temperature change. Seems very unique.
Is it because you tried to turn them the wrong way?

Probably a previous return and no one really checked and put back into inventory.
Do the shoes look used? The dials seem to have a bit of dirt/grease etc on them. I’d not risk keeping them, return them for a new pair.

I’ve rarely seen a broken boa. And that’s after selling hundreds/thousands of boa shoes.
If all 4 are bad, it’s likely some batch issue and I would contact boa.
Looks like someone bought them for the dials then returned them. And then no one bothered to look at them closely.
