Yes the issue is with the free hub. It could be as simple as the grease drying up and sticking the pawls in the disengaged position. You’d have to take it apart to diagnose. You’ll need a chain whip or chain and vice grips and probably a couple 6-10mm Allen keys

Change it and you’ll need new compatible chain. Easier to go to a bike shop or buy the tools to remove it as well as chain tool.
